It’s a Presbyterian Souperbowl throwdown.

United Faith vs. Grace

Each year, the Souperbowl of Caring seeks to transform the time around the Super Bowl into the nations largest celebration of giving and serving, by donating soup to local food pantries. This year, it’s a challenge between us (United Faith) and Grace Presbyterian, and the question is:

Who can collect the most soup for the Food Bank?

Local Challenge Goal
First, we’re challenging the United Faith community to step up. We collected just under 125 lbs last year. If we increase our giving to 300 lbs of food. Pastor Kathleen will sing Kum Buh Yah in worship. Yes, sing a solo and we all know how much she dislikes the song.

Pastor Rob is challenging Grace to collect 500 lbs, their goal last year was 400 lbs of which they easily met. They’re still working on the details of his torment. Updates to come

Church Challenge Goal
Then and if or when both churches meet their goals, United Faith and Grace will compete. The church which goes higher above their local goal will get to host the opposing church pastor, and greet him/her with a tasty pie to the face.

No matter the outcome or which church triumphs, the food bank wins and we have fun with a sister Presbyterian church. So, bring your soup cans or cash donations. Each $1 = 1 lb of food towards our goal. Donations must be received by Sunday, February 3, 2019.

The official weighing of the cans…

Last year: we collected approximately 125 cans.
Our goal this year: 300 lbs of soup (donations of cash figured as $1 = 1lb)

The challenge vs. Grace: losing church’s pastor gets a pie in the face.

Totals (drum roll please…….)
Grace: 1015 pounds
United Faith: a whopping 1412.5 lbs. of soup plus $345, equals 1757.5 pounds. The Clear Winner!!!!!

Join us on March 3 for a shared Fellowship Hour at UF, when Pastor Rob gets his “just desserts”.

Thanks to our great friends at Grace for a fun competition. The Food Pantry is the real winner!!
